My first car was a cb7 accord. I got it in high school. That kicked off my love for Hondas.
It’s my favorite brand now and always will be. I was driving around after school one day and saw a white sol sitting at a local used car dealership. I had to have it.
One of my friends had been wanting my Accord; anyways so the next day he bought it off of me and I went and got the Sol right after. It was also my 17th birthday ironically. My birthday is in January and it was very cold out, but I had to drive home with the roof off. I was so excited I hardly noticed it was 15 degrees out. Will forever be one of my favorite memories.
Long story short I modded the sol some and realized about 7 months later it won’t be the one I keep forever. It was rusty and needed a lot. Side note I put 30k miles on it in those 7 months. I was still a broke high schooler and not experienced with body work and engine work so I sold it. Promised myself I’d get a samba one to keep forever and build some day.
I found the samba one I have now close to 5 years ago. It was stock with a carbon hood and black roof and trunk. Mix matched wheels. It’s been through several stages since. When I got it it was undrivable. I’ve had to replace quite literally like everything since. But the main thing was that it was a samba car and not rusty. So it was the start of my dream build.
I discovered the samba color after I bought the white one I had in some Facebook groups and was in love with it. Green is my favorite color. And the somewhat rarity of the color made me want it even more.
I plan on tracking the car after the B18C swap I have planned. So I’ve currently set it up for handling super well. I blew up the original Z6 in it and swapped in a new lower mileage one.
I actually take it to a local road where lots of bikes and cars go at it. It’s one of the fastest cars around even with its little Z6. It just eats corners like nothing else. It’s just a stock Z6 with a intake, header, exhaust and tuned on s300.
Upgraded exedy clutch. Wilwood front brakes. Buddy club RCA’S. Tein flex Z’s coils. 15×8 +28 RPF1’s. Currently have toyo extenzas, I will be switching to r888r’s now that I don’t have to daily it anymore. Skunk2 upper and lower arms front and rear. GSR rear sway bar. DC sports strut bars. Integra front subframe brace. Skunk2 Spherical compliance bushings. Poly trailing arm bushings. Skunk2 shifter. Speedfactory shifter spring. Poly shifter bushings. Hybrid racing knob.
Reupholstered the upper trim inside with a HKS fabric because I love the pattern. Suits the Sol perfectly. JDM map lights, sunvisors, and gathers speaker covers. I have license plate fillers also but they need painted before I install them. Sourced a green trunk, roof, and hood to make my car completely samba again. And a nice set of samba striped seats. Custom projector headlights. Yellow aux lights. Fire extinguisher mounted in the floor on the passenger side. Might save my Sol some day! NRG wheel and quick release. And last but not least the Old Sols samba bezel overlay.
FUTURE PLANS
Built NA B18C1 swap with ITR trans is the end goal. And simply have it repainted (in samba of course) to look new again once I get a carbon hood and nice condition oem bumper and fenders. Which is very hard to find nowadays. And get PCI skirts and an adjustable front splitter. I need to swap the seats to something more bolstered as much as I hate to not use the oem sol seats. They just don’t hug well in the curves. Probably gonna go with some Bride low max’s. Gonna attempt to make some custom tail lights here soon. I want to change the steering wheel to a momo. And my gauges to AEM. Also want the 22mm progress rear sway bar kit. Then get lots of seat time and adjust/upgrade things as necessary.
